About Her
75. Retired after 60 years as a Registered Nurse and Midwife. Did an exchange year in the USA and three courses there at different times. Spent time with family in Australia and the UK. Short trips to other countries. Have worked in South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai. Got to the top of my profession by hard work, plus a fascination for the human being and the issues around dis-ease and healing. Many years as a Lifeline counselor. After retirement I worked in the drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres along the Garden Route. Currently got enough material to do a book but am daunted by the "how".
I am independent, single since 2007, free of baggage. I have a son living in Australia and another son living on the Garden Route. I love them deeply and they in turn watch over me in the circle of life. I have a leaky heart valve, due for repair in a year. I am careful with my energy in the meantime. I have some loss of hearing in one ear after surgery in 2000 and wear a hearing aid.
I really would like a male friend! My father and sons have set the bar unfairly high but, gulp, let me say it and klaar. Men who are intelligent, educated, kind, well mannered (I like formal and polite), well read, and well traveled enjoy my company. I think of myself as a good listener but when fired up about a topic I hear myself and roll my eyes at that.

I am ruled by the head and keep my heart very, very safe because once given I am intense, devoted, and 'forever'..
My bliss lies in the creation of a cosy, organized, pretty home (be warned that's cottagey with roses and warm colours). I spend time reading, tending herbs in pots, playing chess (beginner level), embroidering, decoupage, crafts, walking, and thinking. With the right companion those interests would broaden.
I will be living in Hoekwil/Wilderness (near George) and would like a companion who lives nearby.

I described him in my self-description above but to say it again - I like polite and formal men, educated, kind, intelligent in the let's-find-out-what-this-is-about way, quiet but deep, well read, well traveled, doesn't need a nurse or a purse.
I'm not sporty and wouldn't suit a man who prioritises beer and sports tv.
However, having made the description so specific doesn't preclude my curiosity about and openness to people outside that description. Relationships are the oddest things!
